Sony on Thursday announced that it has rolled out Google's latest mobile operating system, Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0, its Xperia S customers from today.
The update brings number of new and improved features such as resizable widgets, better control over your mobile data usage and recent apps key to accelerate the introduction of frequently used applications.
In addition to the ICS is Sony offers three new media applications as part of the update Walkman, music, and movies. The Walkman phone with integrated Face book and you can find your favorite songs with friends and also new tunes they like. The album apps offers some new ways to sort and scroll through photos and shares them on Face book. The movies app displays movies in high quality format and features searchable database of movie posters and other information about particular movie.
Users can update their phone over cellular networks and Wi-Fi, or your computer either on Sony Experian Update Web site, PC Companion, and Bridge for Mac software. The software package comes to around 200 MB; Sony recommends the use of Wi-Fi when you upgrade an Experian S over the air.
The upgrade will be pushed out in the next few weeks, as availability may vary on different carriers, said Sony. Users will be notified when the upgrade is ready for their device.
Sony introduced the Experian S at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. The device is powered by 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and features 4.3-inch screen with 720p display. The phone packs 32 GB or internal memory and micros card slot expandable up to 32 additional GB.
The Experian S features Field Communication (NFC) technology that allows users to share content with each other by their cell phones together allows, and also paves the way for future NFC applications and services.
